History(The Cuban Missile crisis)

Who was Fidel Castro? The Cuban man who overthrew the brutal dictator General Bastista in 1950. He led a popular revolution
What were Castro's intentions? To turn Cuba into a communist state.
When America realized that Castro was turning into a communist state what did they do? They stopped trading with Cuba and refused to buy its sugar
When The Soviet realized that Castro was turning into a communist state what did they do? Anxious to gain an ally so close to the American coast, they offered help by agreeing to buy Cuban sugar in return for oil and machinery
What happened at the bay of pigs? In 1961 president John F Kennedy agreed to a plan by the central intelligence agency(CIA) for an invasion on Cuba. When about 1500 Cuban exiles landed at the bay of pigs in southern Cuba they were out numbered 300 to one, making the invasion a disaster
In 1962 when American US spy planes took photographs clearly showing that missile bases were being prepared in the Cuban jungle, what did Khrushchev do? He claimed that the missiles were there to defend Cuba from any further American-led invasions. He also stated that there was no difference between the Soviet Union placing nuclear missiles in Cuba as America placing missiles in Turkey
