What are the consumer laws? The main laws that protect the consumers, Sale of goods and supply of services act 1980, consumer information act 1978
What is the sale of goods and supply of services act 1980? It states that goods should be of merchatnable quality,they should be fit for purpose,they should be as they described,they should correspond to the sample and that the suppliers must be qualified.
What is the consumer information act,1978? It forbids suppliers from giving any misleading information about goods-price,quality and services
What is a food label? It shows the name of food,the ingredients in descending order,the unit price,the actual price and the sell by date
What is the bar code? A series of lines on goods that can be read by computer scanners
What is unit pricing? It shows the price per liter/kilo and enables the consumer to make better choices than if they were dealing with price per item
What is the director of consumer affairs? They enforce consumer legislation and educate consumers
What is the small claims court? They provide a cheap and low-level legal way of solving small complaints
