Civics is the study of the rights and duties of citizens
Citizenship concept of dates back more than 2,500 years to ancient Greece and Rome
Citizens Only men with property possessed the right to vote and to take part of the government
Service Economy earn a living by providing services
Values are ideas about what is good & desiirable and are shared by the society
Popular Sovereignty American ideal of individual rights to "life, Liberty"
Institutions these are not buildings or places but set of ideas that people have about relationships
Naturalization becomes a citizen by birth and foreign-born people who choose becomes citizens by legal process
Aliens noncitizens
Immigrants people who move permanently to a new country
Deport send them back to their own counties
Government is a ruling authority for a community
public Policy or a course or government action to achieve community goals
budget a plan for collecting and spending money
democracy are more then 2500 years old
direct democracy all the citizens met to debate governement matters and vote first hand
representative decomocracy a smaller group of representatvies
Republic a systems of limited government in which the people are the ultimate source of governmental power
Monarchy describes a government with heredititary ruler
Majortity rule citizen agrees that when differences of opinion arise
Authoritarian power is held by an individuals or a group not accountable to the people
Totalitarian government controls extends to almost all aspects of people lives
