EOC Testing Words
| Question | Answer |

| Convey | Make (an idea, impression, or feeling) known or understandable to someone. Another word for convey would be communicate. Ex: Select a line that conveys passing time. |
| Synonym | A word that means exactly or nearly the same as another word. For example shut is a synonym for the word close. |
| Emerge | Become known or obvious. For example, "Some nice results emerged from the study" |
| Effect | A result of something else. For example, "Bad grades are the effect of not studying for the test." |
| Affect | To influence. For example, "Not studying affected her grades." |
| Excerpt | A short passage selected from a longer piece of writing. |
| Illustrates | Explain or make something clear. |
| Significance | The meaning to be found in words or phrases. |
| Unique | One of a kind; original. |
| Impact | Influence, result in, or effect |
| Objective | Unbiased; no preference for one side or the other. |
| Influence | To have an effect on; persuade with evidence |
| Impression | An idea, feeling, or opinion about something or someone. |
| Essential | Absolutely necessary; extremely important. |
| Infer | To take a guess based on evidence and information presented. |
| Advance | To move forward. |
