map title tells what the map is about
symbol a picture that represents a real building, or place (such as a park)
map symbol the picture symbols on a map
map key what the picture symbols on a map stand for
distance scale used to measure distance from place to place on a map
compass rose shows the cardinal directions
cardinal directions North, South, East, West
Intermediate directions Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest
Map Grid helps locate places
Meridians lines that measure North and South
Parallels Lines that measure East and West
Longitude Measure distance East or West of the Prime Meridian
Latitude Measure distance from the Equator towards either ple
Prime Meridian Zero degrees Longitude
Equatior Zero degrees Latitude
