Question | Answer |
---|---|
What is a solid? | A state of matter witch materials have a definite shape and definite volume. |
What is a liquid? | A state of matter witch materials have a definite volume but not a definite shape. |
What is a gas? | A state of matter witch materials do not have a definite shape or definite volume. |
What is kinetic energy? | The energy an object has due to its motion. |
What is pressure? | the result of a force distributed over an area. |
What is absolute zero? | A temperature equal to 0 Kelvin. |
What is Charles's law? | Charles law that states that the volume of a gas is directly proportionate ti its temperature in kelvins if the pressure and number of particles of gas are constant. |
What is Boyle's law? | Boyle's law states that the volume of a gas is proportional to its pressure if the temperature and number of particles are constant. |
What is a phase change? | It is the reversible physical change that occurs when a substance changes from one stare of matter to another. |
What is an endothermic change? | During an endothermic change the system absorbs energy from its surroundings. |
What is an exothermic change? | During an exothermic change the system releases energy from its surroundings. |
What is heat of fusion? | It is the energy a substance must absorb in order to change from a solid to a liquid. |
What is vaporization? | It is the phase change when a substance changes from a liquid to a gas. |
What is heat of vaporization? | It is the energy a substance must absorb in order to change from a liquid to a gas. |
What is evaporation. | It is the possess that changes a substance from a liquid to a gas. |
What is vapor pressure? | It is the pressure caused by the collisions of vapor and the walls of the container. |
What is condensation? | The phase change in witch a substance changes from a gas or vapor to a liquid. |
What is sublimation? | It is the phase change when a substance changes from a solid to a gas of vapor without going through the liquid state. |
What is deposition? | The phase change when gas or vapor changes into a solid without first changing into a liquid. |
