Checking Account Vocabulary

authorized Official; approved; correct
bank statement a bank form that is sent each month to the customerl a form listing all the checks paid, deposits made, ATM uses, service charges, and the account's balance
cancelled check any check the bank pays and subtracts from your checking account
check register a small booklet to use to keep track of your balance when you write checks or make a deposit or withdrawal
currency folding money; money in bills, such as a dollar bill or a five dollar bill
deposit slip a slip of paper kept by the bank to show how much money you put into your account
endorse to sign your name on the back of a check
entry something entered into a book or booklet
signature card a card with the name, address, and authorized signature of a bank customer
coin metal money: dimes, pennies, quarters, nickels, etc.
check A written order to a bank to pay a stated amount from the account
withdrawal slip a slip of paper kept by the bank you complete to show how much money you took out of your account
Deposit to put money into a bank account
withdrawal to take money out of a bank account
balance how much money is left in a bank acount
teller a person who works in a bank helping customers
ATM Automated Teller Maching: a machine used by bank customers to make deposits and withdrawals
service charge the bank's fee for taking care of your bank account
interest the amount it costs to borrow money OR the amount the bank pays you for storing your money there.
