American Revolution The war fought by Americans to gain their freedom from Great Britain
Continental Congres The national legislator which goverened American colonies
Declaration of Independence A statement that listed the basic prinipals of democratic government.
loyalists ameerican who supported Great Britain for the war.
Patriots Those who supported the war against Great Britain.
Bill of Rights The fist ten ammendments to constitution
Checks and Balances The sharing and balancing of power among all the branches of government
Executive Branch The branch of government that carries out the laws made by the legislative branch of government.
higher law a set of laws that are supreme to others.
judicial branch the branch of government that intercepts and applies laws
legislative branch the branch of government that makes the laws
seperation of powers The division of power divided between teh branches of government
constitution a set of rules and laws that tells how a government is organized.
constitutional government a government in which the powers of the ruler are limited.
Dictatorial government A government has ultimate power on rules.
