diuresis DYE yoo REE siss condition of urine passing through (usually refers to excessive urine discharge); also known as polyuria (pall ee YOO ree ah)
dysuria diss YOO reeah difficulty or pain in urination
enuresis ehn yoo REE siss involuntary release of urine, usually due to a lack of bladder control; nocturnal enuresis is also known as bed-wetting
glycosuria glye kohs YOO ree ah presence of glucose (sugar) in the urine; often a symptom of diabetes mellitus
hematuria HEE mah TOO ree ah presence of blood in the urine
ketonuria kee tohn YOO ree ah presence of ketone bodies in the urine; a common sign of acidosis among patients suffering from metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus ; results when fats are metabolized
nocturia nok TOO ree ah urination at night
oliguria all ig YOO ree ah excessive urination
proteinuria proh tee NYOO ree ah presence of protein in the urine
pyuria pye YOO ree ah presence of pus (white blood cells) in the urine; usually a sign of infection
