Compare tell how many times bigger or smaller
Corresponding Sides or angles that "go together" in similiar figures
Image a figure created by enlarging or reducing another. May or may not be distorted.
Ratio a comparison of 2 numbers by division
Scale factor the # that all segments of a figure are multiplied by to create a similiar figure
Similiar Same shape, same angles, no distortion. Perfect enlargement or reduction. Must have scale factor.
Rule Tells what to do to the x and y coordinates of a figure to create an image
Length the long side of a rectangle
Width the short side of a rectangle
Area How many 1 X 1 squares cover the surface of a figure
Scaling using scale factor to find unknown measurements
Coordinates the 2 numbers that tell where a point is on a coodinate graph
Diameter the distance across a circle, going through its center
Dimensions the measurements telling us the size of a figure
Line Segment a part of a straight line, with two endpoints
Perimeter the total distance around the outside edge of a figure, found by adding up all the sides
Unit a label telling what measurement is being used
Vertex (vertices) a point at the corner of a geometric figure
