fined | a fee charged for breaking a rule or committing a crime |
convicted | to be found guilty of a crime |
accused | thought guilty; charged with a crime |
peers | people similar to you who live in your community |
witness | a person who sees a crime take place |
civil case | noncriminal dispute or trial; divorce or property rights |
punishment | penalty; harsh treatment |
entitled | qualified for; a right given by law |
bail | money given as a promise to return to court after being released from custody |
