practice recognizing & using commutative, associative, & distributive properties
Question | Answer |
---|---|
Associative Property | When adding and multiplying, you can move the parentheses to regroup the terms without changing the sum or product. |
Commutative Property | When adding or multiplying, changing the order of the addends or factors does not change the sum or product. |
Distributive Property | The product of a number and a sum is the same as adding the products when you multiply the number by each addend. |
Identity Property of Multiplication | When a number is multiplied by one the result is the number itself. |
