How does the integumentary systme provide protection? skin is barrier between the organs and the outside. skin shields organs from Pathogens and UV rays, and skin holds water,to provide elasticity and balance of fluids and electrolytes
How does the Integumentary system regulate body temperature? the temperature keeps constant ungless it releases heat through enlarged blood vessels in the skin aka radiation and narrows blood vessels when body is conserving heat
How does this system enable you to sense the world around you? it responds to touch, pain, pressure and temperature and therefore allows the body to sense its environment; major sense organ
What is the epidermis & what does it do? TOP LAYER: it contains dead and living cells; the dead cells form a protect coveing and are removed when you remove clothes, skin is rubbed or bathed.outer layer is replaced once a month lipids make the skin water proof.
melanin pigment that give skin, hair and the iris of the eyes their color located in the epidermis
what does the integumentary system shield? shields the organs from the outside world
what is the dermis and what is its function? Name features contained in the the dermus It is the inner, thicker layer of skin- between the epidermis and the hypodermis contains Connective tissue. Has an eleastic and spongy flexible quality. contains blood vessels, sweat gland, sebaceous glands
What does the hypodermus do attaches bone to muscle, contains adipose, sub contianous layer
what are the 2 main layers of skin- what attaches the skin to bone and muscle? epidermis, dermis are the 2 main layers and hypodermus attaches the skin to bone and muscle.
What are skin problems? ringworm, altheletes foot , boils, warts, moles, psoriasis, vitiligo, impetigo, blisters callus, and corns
What foods are good for your skin? Vitamin A; milk, eggs yolks,liver, green leafy and yellow fruit and veggies.
