reference point the starting point used to describe the location or position of an object
what is the difference between distance and displacement? the distance an object moves is the actual length of it's path. Its displacement is the length of a line drawn from the initial position to the final position of an object
GPS global positioning system
speed a measure of the distance on object per unit of time
constant speed the rate of change of position in which the same distance is traveled each second
instantaneous speed speed at a specific instant in time
what happened October 14th, 1947? Chuck Yager broke the sound barrier. he was a test pilot and had a very dangerous job.
average speed total distance over total time
velocity formula distance over time
velocity the speed of an object in a particular direction - velocity changes if either the speed or direction changes
acceleration the rate at which velocity changes--- to change velocity
how to calculate acceleration A= Vt-Vi over ----- total time it takes to change velocity
