The Pediatric Examination

Immunization (active, artificial) | The process of becoming immune or of rendering an individual immune through the use of a vaccine or toxoid. |
Infant | A child from birth to 12 months old. |
Length (recumbent) | The measurement from the vertex of the head to the heel of the foot in a supine position. |
Pediatrician | A physician who specializes in the care and development of children and the Dx and Tx of children's diseases. |
Pediatrics | The branch of medicine that deals with the care and development of children and the Dx and Tx of children's diseases. |
Preschool child | A child 3 to 6 years old. |
School-age child | A child 6 to 12 years old. |
Toddler | A child 1 to 3 years old. |
Toxoid | A treated toxin that's administered to an individual to prevent an infectious disease by stimulating the production of antibodies in that individual. |
Vaccine | A suspension of weakened or killed MOs administered to an individual to prevent an infectious disease by stimulating the production of antibodies in that individual. |
Vertex | The top of the head. |
