Fungal Element | Definition |

Conidia | Reproductive structures produced by an asexual mode |
Spore | Reproductive structures produced sexually, also the asexual propagules of the Zygomycetes |
Conidiophore | Structure that supports conidia |
Sporangium | Saclike structure where sporangiospores are formed (Zygomycetes) |
Arthroconidia | Directly from hyphae by modification of cell wall (barrels) |
Blastoconidia | Budding of cell, ie. yeast |
Chlamydoconidia | Directly from hyphae (swelling) |
Ascospore | Sexual spore formed in a saclike structure following meiosis |
Zygospore | Round, thick-walled spore produced in a saclike structure by fusion of two hyphal tips of zygomycete |
Basidiospore | Spore formed in a club-shaped reproductive structure following meiosis |
