glycosylation | the process of glucos attatching to hemoglobin |
HDL cholesterol | a lipoprotein consisting of protein and cholerterol, that removes excess choleterol from the cells |
hemoglobin A1c | compound formed when glucose attaches or glycosylates to the protein in hemoglobin |
hyperglycimia | an abnormally high level of glucose in the blood |
hypoglycimai | an abnormally low level of glucose in the blood |
in vitro | occuring in glass. refers to test performed under artificial conditions as in the laboratory |
in vivo | occuring in the living body or organism |
lipoprotein | a complex molecule consisting of protein and a lipid fraction such as choloestrol. lipoprotein function in transporting lipids in the blood |
recipient | one who recieves something, such as a blood transfusion from a donor |
LDL cholesterol | a lioprotein consitiing of protein and a lipid freaction such as cholesterol that picks up cholesterol and delivers it to the cells |
