| Reproduction / Reproduce | The process of making new life. |
| Asexual Reproduction | Reproduction that involves 1 parent and creates identical offspring. |
| Sexual Reproduction | Reproduction that involves 2 parents. Sex cells from each parent join to form a zygote. This type of reproduction creates genetically different offspring. |
| Offspring | New life created from reproduction. |
| Egg | A sex cell that comes from the female parent. |
| Sperm | A sex cell that comes from the male parent. |
| Fertilization | The joining of a sperm and an egg. |
| Zygote (pronounced Z-eye-goat) | A fertilized egg. |
| Embryo | A growing and developing offspring created as a result of sexual reproduction. |
| Unicellular | Made up of only 1 cell. (Bacteria are unicellular.) |
| Multicellular | Made up of many cells. (Humans are multicellular.) |
| Cell Division | The process that cells go through to make more cells where 1 cell splits into 2. |
| Daughter Cells | The name of the cells that are formed after cell division has taken place. (After cell division, 1 cell splits to form 2 new daughter cells.) |
| Species | A group of organisms that share similar characteristics and can reproduce with each other. |
| Diversity | Having difference or variety. |
| Germination / Germinate | The process of a seed developing into a plant. |
