Question | Answer |
Base | The factor multiplied by itself to evaluate an exponent. |
Exponent | The number of times the base is multiplied. The tiny number written with the base. |
Squared | A number that has an exponent of 2. Second power. |
Cubed | A number with an exponent of 3. Third power. |
Equation | A math sentence with an equals sign. |
Evaluate | Find the value or solve. |
Solution | The value of the variable. |
Factor | The number being multiplied. |
Function Rule | Describes the input and output relationship. |
Prime Factorization | The prime numbers or factors that represent a composite number. |
Variable | A letter used in a math expression that can represent more than one number. |
Order of Operations | Parentheses, Exponents, Multiply or Divide, Add or Subtract |
Prime Number | A number with exactly 2 factors. Example: 7 = 7x1; this is the only way to make 7 using whole numbers and multiplication. |
Composite Numbers | A number with more than 2 factors. Example: 25 = 5x5 and 25 = 25x1. 25 is composite because it has 3 factors, 5, 25 and 1. |
