Point | Location in Space |
Line | Points connected in a straight path that goes on in both directions forever. |
Line Segment | A part of a line with two end points |
Ray | A part of a line with only one end point |
Parallel Lines | Two lines that never cross |
Intersecting Lines | Two lines that will cross at some point |
Perpendicular Lines | Two lines that for a right angle |
Angle | Two rays that share the same end point |
Vertex | A shared end point on an angle |
Right Angle | a 90 degree angle |
Obtuse Angle | An angle of more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees |
Acute Angle | An angle less than 90 degrees |
Straight Angle | An angle of exactly 180 degrees |
Triangle | A 3-sided polygon |
Right Triangle | A triangle that has a 90 degree angle |
Obtuse Triangle | A triangle that has one angle bigger than 90 degrees |
Acute Angle | A triangle that has all 3 sides less than 90 degrees. |
Scalene Triangle | A triangle where no sides are the same length |
Isosceles Triangle | A triangle where at least 2 sides are the same length |
Equilateral Triangle | A triangle with all 3 sides of equal length |
Polygon | A closed figure made with 3 or more line segments that may not overlap |
Congruent | Equal Measure |
Convex Polygon | All angles pointed outward |
Concave polygon | One or more angles pointed in "Caved in" |
Regular Polygon | Sides and angles are all congruent |
Decagon | 10-sided polygon |
undecagon | 11-sided polygon |
nonagon | 9-sided polygon |
octagon | 8-sided polygon |
heptagon | 7-sided polygon |
hexagon | 6-sided polygon |
Pentagon | 5-sided polygon |
quadrilateral | 4-sided polygon |
triangle | 3-sided polygon |
perplex angle | an angle larger than 180 degrees |
