decimals | A number that is written in a system based on the multiples of 10. |
benchmark decimal | A common decimal that you can use to estimate the value of other decimals. 0 , 0.5 , and 1.0 are some examples. |
round | a decimal to a given place value, look at the digit to the right of the place to which you want to round the decimal. If the digit to the right is 4 or less, round down. If the digit to the right is 5 or greater, round up. |
terminating decimals | When the denominator divides evenly into the numerator when converting a fraction to a decimal. |
repeating decimals | A decimal in which a digit or a group of digits repeats without end. So, the denominator does not divide evenly into the numerator when converting a fraction to a decimal. |
dividend | The number or decimal that is being divided into equal groups. |
divisor | The number or decimal that divides the dividend. |
quotient | The result of the division sentence. They can be whole numbers, decimals, or fractions. |
