Vocabulary Word | Definition |
angle | a figure formed by two rays that meet at a common endpoint |
denominator | the number below the bar in a fraction that tells how many parts are in a whole |
composite number | a number having more than two factors |
greatest common factor | the greatest factor that two or more numbers have in common |
intersecting lines | lines that cross each other at exactly one point |
least common multiple | the least number, other than zero, that is a common multiple of two or more numbers |
prime number | a number that has exactly two factors; 1 and itself |
range | the difference between the greatest number and the least number in a set of data |
right triangle | a triangle that has a right angle |
ray | a part of a line; it begins at one endpoint and extends forever in done direction |
numerator | the number above the bar in a fraction that tells how many equal parts of the whole are being considered |
edge | the line made where two or more faces of a solid figure meet |
intersecting lines | lines that cross each other at exactly one point |
line | a straight path in a plane, extending in both directions with no endpoints |
line segment | a part of a line between two endpoints |
perimeter | the distance around a closed plane figure |
vertex | the point where two or more rays meet, the point where two sides meet, or the point where two edges meet |
