hyperapnea | an increased respiratory rate |
bounding | forceful pulse that quickly disappears |
thready | weak and rapid pulse that feels like a fine mobile thread |
hyperventilation | breathing faster or deeper than normal, causing excessive expulsion of circulating carbon dioxide |
dyspnea | difficult or labored breathing |
fever | also known as pyrexia; elevated body temperature above 101 degress Fahrenheit |
febrile | pertaining to a fever, or elevated body temperature |
afebrile | without fever |
angina | chest pain or discomfort when your heart doesn't get enough blood |
wheezing | difficult breathing with a high-pitched whistling or sighing sound during expiration |
rales | bubbling or noisy sounds caused by fluids or mucus in the air passages |
rhonchi | a rattling sound somewhat like snoring; usually caused by secretion in bronchial airways |
orthopnea | severe dyspnea in which breathing is very difficult in any position other than sitting erect or standing |
