| sliding friction | a larger amount of friction than rolling friction |
| rolling friction | a smaller amount of friction than sliding friction |

| buoyancy of liquids | a larger amount of buoyancy than gases |
| repel/repulsion | to push apart (N to N or S to S on magnets, + to + or – to – in electricity) |

| steep incline | an incline that requires more force to move an object up it than a shallow incline |
| shallow incline | an incline that requires less force to move an object up it than a steep incline |

| gravity | A force that accelerates all objects equally. (So a basketball and a golf ball fall at the same rate.) *** Gravity is greater for objects with larger mass, and objects that are closer together. Gravity decreases with less mass and far distances. |
| mass | Mass is the amount of matter (atoms) in an object. Mass can only change if you remove or add matter. |
| weight | Weight is how much gravity pulls an object downward onto a scale. |
| mass vs. weight | If you travel from one planet to another, your mass does not change, but your weight changes, depending on the gravity of the planet. |
| projectile motion | A projectile is a object that is propelled, like a cannonball from a cannon. A projectile falls toward the Earth at the same rate as a dropped object – if it’s the same object from the same height. |
