Question | Answer |
Graph of linear inequality in one variable | The set of points on a number line that represents all solutions of the inequality. |
Equivalent Inequalities | Inequalites with the same solutions. |
Compound Inequality | Two inequalites connected by and or or. |
Linear inequality in x and y | An inequality that can be written as follows: ax+by>c ax+by |
Solution of a linear inequality | An ordered pair (x,y) is a solution of a linear inequality if the inequality is true when the values of x and y are substituted into the inequality. |
Graph of a linear inequality in two variables | The graph of all ordered pairs (x,y) that are solutions of the inequality. |
Half-plane | In a coordinate plane, the region on either side of a boundary line. |
Stem-and-leaf plot | An arrangment of digits that is used to display and order numerical data. |
Measure of central tendency | A number that is used to represent a typcial number in a data set. |
Mean, or average | The sum of n numbers divided by n. |
Median | The middle numbers of a collection of n numbers are written in a numnerical order. If n is even, the median is take to be the average of the two middle numbers. |
Mode | The number that occcurs most frequently in a collection of n numbers. A set of data can have more than one mode or no mode. |
Box-and-whisker plot | A data display that divides a set of data into four parts. The box represents half of the data. The segment extends to the least and greatest data items. |
Quartiles | Three numbers that separate a set of data into four parts. |
