WORD | DEFINITION |
Absolute Value | The number of units a number is from zero on a number line. |
Additive Inverse | The opposite of a number. |
Complex Fraction | A fraction that has one or more fractions in the numerator or the demoninator. |
Coordinate | The number that corresponds to a point on the number line. |
Cross Products | In the proportion, the numbers on the diagonals. |
Disjoint sets | Two sets that have no members in common. |
Graph | To locate points on a number line. |
Inequality | Any sentence containing < , >, ≤, ≥, or ≠. |
Integers | The set of numbers {..., -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, ... } |
Intersection | Given Sets A and B, the set of elements that A and B have in common. |
Mean | The sum of the elements of a set divided by the number of elements in the set. |
Multiplicative Inverse | Two numbers whose product is 1. |
Negative | A number that is graphed to the left of zero on a number line. |
Number Line | A line with equal distance marked off to represent numbers. |
Opposite | The additive inverse of a number. |
Rational Numbers | Numbers that can be expressed as fractions. |
Whole Numbers | The set of numbers {0, 1, 2, 3, ...}. |
Real Numbers | Irrational numbers together with rational numbers form this set. |
Reciprocals | A number's multiplicative inverse. |
Union | Given Sets A and B, the set that contains all the elements of sets A and B. |
Unit Cost | The cost of an item by its basic measurement. (per ounce, per pound, per can, etc.) |
Venn Diagram | Using circles or ovals inside a rectangle to show relationships of sets. |
