Associative | grouping using minimum of 3 terms for + or x |
Distributive | multiply the term DIRECTLY outside |
Reciprocal | any term times its reciprocal is 1 |
Identity of addition | any number plus 0+itself |
Identity of multiplication | any # times 1=itself |
Opposite | any term plus its opposite is 0 |
addition | if the signs are the same add and give the awnser in the same sign. if the terms are different subtract and give the awnser of the larger# |
subtraction | add the opposite of the 2nd term |
multiplication/division | both terms have same sign = posotive if terms have different signs = negative |
Absolute value | the distance between a # and 0 |
variable | is used to represent an unknown # |
opposite | if the # is possotive than the negative version of it and if the # is negative then the posotive version of it. Ex -1=1 2=-2 |

equation | a mathmatical problem |
absolute value | how far away from 0 the # is |
Reciprocal | the opposite of a # for example 2/1=1/2 |
like terms | same base same exponent |
