Question | Answer |
Graph | A diagram that represents the relationship between two or more things. |
X-Axis | the horizontal axis of a bar or line graph; it runs along the bottom and represents the independent variable. |
Y-Axis | the vertical axis of a bar or line graph; it run's up the side and represents the dependent variable. |
Bar Graph | a graph that uses columns or rows to represent numeric amounts. A good all purpose graph. |
Histogram | a special bar graph which clumps the data together and there are no spaces between the bars. |
Line graph | a graph that connects points to show a continuous set of data. |
Pie or Circle Graph | a graph used to show a whole broken down into parts. The data is represented in percentages. |
Pictograph | a graph that uses pictures or symbols to represent the data. |
Frequency Table | a kind of display in which the frequency of each data item is found. Frequency of a data item-the number of times an item occurs in the set of data. Tallies- Used to display the frequency. |
Line plot | A graph that shows frequency of data along a number line. It is quick and simple. |
Mean | The average. |
Median | the middle number. |
Mode | the number or item in a set of data that appears the most often. |
Stem And Leaf plot | a system used to condense a set of data where the greatest place value of the data forms the stem and leaf. |
Stem | The greatest place value common to all the data values. |
leaf | the second greatest place value in a stem and leaf plot. |
Box and Whisker plot | A diagram that summarizes data using the median. |
