Clonus | rapid series of abnormal muscle contractions that occur in response to stretching |
Dystonia | abnormal muscle rigidity causing painful spasms, usually fixed postures or strange movements |
Fasiculation | spontaneous, irregular and usually continual contractions of a muscle that is apparently at rest |
Festinating gait | gait where the trunk is flexed, legs are flexed at the knees and hips but stiff while steps are short and progressively more rapid |
Flaccidity | muscular lack of tone, where it is lax, weak or soft |
Hemiplegia | paralysis or weakness on one side of the body caused by damage or disease to the motor nerve tracts on the opposite side of the brain |
Paralysis | complete or partial loss of controlled movement caused by the inability to contract 1 or more muscles |
Paraplegia | paralysis of both legs and sometimes part of the trunk as a result of nerve damage in the brain or spinal cord. |
Spasticity | rigidity in a group of muscles causing stiffness and restriction of movement |
Tremor | An involuntary, rhythmic, oscilating movement in muscles |
Chorea | Rapid jerky movements, usually affecting face, limbs and trunk |
