commutative property of addition | changing the order of addends doesn't change the answer. example: 1.2+3.4=3.4+1.2 |

compatible numbers | numbers that are easy to cumpute mentally. simply change the numbers in the problem problem to make the calcuaions easyer. |
distributive property | It is used to multiply a single term and two or more terms inside a set of parentheses. |
identitive property of multiplication | anything times 1 is itself. |
identitive property of addition | anything plus one 0 is itself. |
integers | negative and positive whole numbers and 0. |
mean | adding the total and dividing by how many numbers there are. |
median | the middle number. |
mode | the number that occurs most often. |
opposites | numbers that are the same distance from the number line but going opposite directions. |
order of operations | 1. work inside grouping symbols. 2 multiply and divide in order from left to right. 3 add and subtract in order from left to right. |
outlier | a data item that is much higher or much lower than other items in a set of data. an it can greatly affect the mean of a set of data. |
range | the differance between the greatest and least of values. |
zero property | the product of 0 and any number is 0. |
