Schedule II | Drugs have high potential for abuse and may lead to physical or psychological dependence. Are currently excepted for medical use in the U.S. Amphetamines, opium, cocaine,methadone, and various opiates. |
Schedule III | Each drug potential for abuse less than those in I and II narcotic substances such as codeine. |
Schedule IV | Low potential for abuse. Phenobarbitals, sedatives, Chloralhydrate. |
Schedule V | Low potential for abuse. Compounds containing limited amounts of narcotics such as codeine. |
