Question | Answer |
line | passes through at least 2 points and extends forever in both directions, named AB or BA with the line symbol over it. |
line segment | part of a line that has a start and end point, it can be named in either direction, CM or MC with the line segment symbol over it. |
ray | a line with a fixed start point which continues forever in one direction, it can be named in ONE WAY. |
vertex | common angle formed by two rays that create a v shape |
parallel lines | lines that remain equidistant from each other and never cross (railroad tracks) |
perpendicular lines | lines that cross through each other and create 90 degree angles. |
interior angles | angles that are on the inside |
exterior angles | angles that are on the outside |
linear pairs (supplementary angles) | angles that equal 180 degrees |
corresponding angles | angles that are located in the same position |
adjacent angles | angles that are next to each other |
transversal | a line that cuts through other lines |
collinear | three or more points are considered collinear if they are on the same line |
coplanar | two or more points that lie on the same plane |
angle bisector | a ray that cuts an angle into 2 equal angles |
congruent | of equal angle degrees or line segment length |
point | an exact location, named with one letter M |
midpoint | when 3 points are on a line, the middle point is considered the midpoint, it creates 2 line segments of equal length. |
equidistant | points that measure the same distance from another point |
plane | a flat surface that continues forever in every direction (piece of paper, table top), it is named with a letter |
angle | shape formed by two lines or rays that have a common end point (vertex) |
verticle angles | angles that are in opposite positions that are the same degree measure |
