| Question | Answer |
| Photo Eye | A type of counting device that is enabled when a sheet of paper breaks the light plane |
| Pile Fed | The way in which a stack of paper is fed into the folder. Pile feeding takes the top sheet of the stack |
| Bottom/friction or gravity fed | The way in which a stack of paper is fed into the folder. Bottom/friction feeding takes the sheet to be fed from the bottom of the pile. Usually completed in small lifts. |
| Parallel Fold | Any fold made in a sheet of paper that is oriented in a direction parallel to a previous fold |
| Right Angle | Any fold made in a sheet of paper that is oriented at a 90 angle to a previous fold |
| Plate | The device that holds the gate |
| Gate | The stopping device that enables the paper to buckle and complete a fold |
| Perforating or (perf) | An operation that punches tiny slits or holes in a sheet of paper, usually allows a portion of the product to easily be removed |
| Scoring | The crease in a sheet of paper as a means of indicating the position of the fold |
| Wet Score | Laying down a fine line of liquid exactly on the fold. To help bend the fibers on the fold to prevent cracking. |
