Angle | Formed by two rays with the same endpoint |
Vertex | The angle; the point where two line segments meet. |
Degrees | Measurement of angles |
Right angle | An angle that measures 90 degrees |
Acute angle | An angle that measures below 90 degrees |
Obtuse angle | An angle that measures between 90 and 180 degrees |
Straight angle | An angle that measures exactly 180 degrees; looks like a straight line |
Vertical angles | Angles across from each other that have equal measures |
Complementary angles | two angles that add up to 90 degrees |
Supplementary angles | two angles that add up to 180 degrees |
Triangle | A closed plane figure with three straight sides that connect three points |
Acute triangle | has three acute angles |
Right triangle | has one right angle |
Obtuse triangle | has one obtuse angle |

Polygon | closed figure that is formed by three or more segments called sides |
3 sides | Triangle |
4 sides | Quadrilateral |
5 sides | Pentagon |
6 sides | Hexagon |
8 sides | Octagon |
Regular Polygon | Polygon with equal side lengths and equal angle measures |
Diagonal | Connects two opposite angles of the polygon |
Congruent | Having the same shape and same size |
Similar | Having the same shape, but not necessarily the same size |
Corresponding parts | the matching sides and angles of two figures |
Line symmetry | if a line can be drawn that divides the figure in two congruent parts that are mirror images of each other |
