Fourteen Points | a set of 14 principles proposed by President Wilson as a basis for ending WWI and for keeping the peace. |
American Expeditionary Force | troops sent to Europe by the U.S. Army during WWI (fought with France and Great Britain against Germany) |
Armistice | a formal agreement between groups fighting a war to stop fighting, sometimes temporarily. |
Sedition Act of 1918 | an act passed during WWI that made it a crime to speak badly against the government |
flappers | slang term for a young woman in the 1920's who showed their freedom from conventions of dress and behavior |
blue laws | laws that prohibit certain activities at certain times, which are usually based on religion |

Southern Literary Renaissance | a revitalization of American southern literature that began in the 1920's and 1930's |
