Dilation | A transformation that preserves angle measures and results in an image with lengths proportional to the preimage lengths. |
Scale factor of a dilation | In a dilation, the ratio of a side length of the image to the corresponding side length of the original figure. |
Similar polygons | Two polygon such that their corresponding angles are congruent and the lengths of corresponding sides are proportional. |
Scale factor of two similar polygons | The ratio of the lengths of two corresponding side length of the original figure. |
Center of dilation | In a dilation, the fixed point about which the figure is enlarged or reduced. |
Reduction | A dilation with a scale factor between 0 and 1. |
Enlargement | A dilation with a scale factor greater than 1. |
