adrenalin | Also called epinephrine. A vasoconstrictor. Relieves anaphylactic shock. |
aminophylline | A bronchodialator. Relieves smooth muscle of respiratory tract. |
Benadryl | Diphenhydramine. An antihistimine that relieves allergy symptoms. |
Compazine | Prochlorperazine. An entiemetic. Relieves symptoms of nausea and vomiting. |
dextrose | Used for hypoglycemia to counteract hyperinsulinism. |
digoxin | Cardiac drug. Used for congestive heart failure, arrhythmias. Slows and strengthens heartbeat. |
Diuril | Chlorothiazide. Promotes excretion of urine. |
hydrocortisone | An anti-inflammatory. Used to suppress swelling and shock. |
Ipecac syrup | Emetic. Used to induce vomiting in certain types of poisonings. |
nitroglycerin | Vasodialator. Dilates coronary arteries. Used in the treatment of angina pectoris. |
Valium | Diazepam. Antianxiety, muscle relaxant. Used to calm very anxious patients and to relax muscles. Schedule IV drug and must be kept in locked cabinet. |
narcan | Naloxone hydrochloride. Antidote. Used in narcotic overdose. |
amiodarone | ventricular antidysrhythmic, first line for VF and Pulseless VT |
cardizem | used to lower rate in atrial fibrillation and PSVT |
digibind | used to treat digitalis toxicity |
MONA | morphine, oxygen, nitroglycerin and aspirin |
