Allergic Rhinitis | inflammation of the lining of the nose causing drainage. "Runny Nose". |
Anaphylaxis | acute, allergic response that occurs in a person who does not have protection from an antigen. |
Angioedema | Allergic reaction that causes swelling in the vessels near the skin; often seen near lips/mouth. |
Food Allergy and Intolerance | Allergic reaction to some foods making it intolerable to eat. |
Autoimmune Collagen Disorders | Diseases in which the body's immune system attack it's own collagen or connective tissue. |
Hemolytic Autoimmune Disorders | Disorder in which the body's immune system breaks down blood cells. |
Allotransplantation | Grafting tissue from one individual to another. |
Bone Marrow Transplant | Procedure in which bone marrow is transplanted to produces blood cells for that person. |
Cadaver Transplant | Organ to be transplanted is taken from a person who has died. |
Stem Cell Transplant | Procedure in which stem cells are transfused to another person. |
Pheresis | The act of transfusing stem cells from blood. |
Transplantation | The act of transferring an organ from one person to another. |
Xenograft | A graft that is from a different species than the recipient. |
Immunology | The study of the immune system. |
Allergy | The body's response to outside invaders. |
Antibody | Immunoglobin produced by lymphocytes to act againist antigens. |
Antihistamine | Substance that controls histamine, which is involed in the inflammatory process. |
Autoimmune Disease | An immune response againist the body itself. |
Acquired Immunity | Resistance to a particular disease developed by people who have had the disease. |
