constant of proportionality | a constant ratio or unit rate of a proportion |
cross products | if a/c = b/d then ad = bc |
discount | the amount by which the regular price of an item is reduced |
percent equation | an equivalent form of a percent proportion, where % is written as a decimal (part = percent x whole) |
percent of change | the ratio of the increase or decrease of an amount to the original amount |
percent of decrease | the ratio of an amount of decrease to the previous amount, expressed as a percent / a negative percent of change |
percent of increase | the ratio of an amount of increase to the original amount, expressed as a percent |
percent proportion | part/whole = % / 100 |
population | a larger group used in statistical analysis |
proportion | a statement of equality of two or more ratios |
proportional relationship | the ratios of related terms are equal |
rate | a ratio of two measurements having different unit rates |
ratio | a comparison of two numbers by division |
sample | a subgroup or subset of a population used to represent the whole population |
scale | the relationship between the measurements on a drawing or model and the measurements of the real object |
scale drawing or scale model | a drawing that is used to represent an object that is too large or too small to be drawn at actual size |
scale factor | the ratio of a length on a scale drawing or model to the corresponding length on the real object |
simple interest | the amount of money paid or earned for the use of money (I=prt) |
unbiased sample | a random sample that is representative of a larger sample |
unit rate | a rate simplified so that it has a denominator of 1 |
