Sagittal Plane Divides body into left and right halves
Transverse Plane Divides body into top and bottom halves
Anterior/Ventral Closer to the front of the body
Posterior/Dosrsal Closer to the back of the body
Medial Closer to sagittal plane
Lateral Farther from the sagittal plane
Proximal Nearest to point of reference
Distal Farthest from point of reference
Superior Higher than point of reference
Inferior Lower than point of reference
Superficial Close to body's surface
Deep Away from body's surface
Flexion Bending a limb
Extension Straightening a limb
Abduction Moving outwards away from body
Adduction Moving inwards towards body
Pronation Turning for the palm side of the hand to face downward
Supination Turning for the palm side of the hand to face upward
Eversion Rotating outward away from the sagittal plane (laterally)
Rotation Turning parallel to the transverse plane
Circumduction Moving for a limb's distal end to make a circular or arc-like shape
