How many roots can a word have? | Every word has at least one root, but a word can have two, three, or four. |
What is a word called that has more than one root? | Compound word. |
Define: Combining form. | A combining form is a root plus a vowel. |
What vowel is used to make the combining form in a medical word? | The use of the vowel that makes up the combining form depends on the vowel/consonant combination. |
Why are these vowels essential? | They are required between roots and other roots and suffixes to make appropriate compound words or words with suffix endings. |
