reference map | A map that shows the location and their: landforms location of cities political/physical features |
thematic map | a map that is designed to show a particular theme in a specific geographic area |

distance scale | a scale that tells the distance between 2 or more areas |
directional indicator | instrument that displays the direction of movement and travel |

latitude (parallels) | invisible lines drawn on the globe, going east and west |
longitude (meridians) | invisible lines drawn on the globe,going north and south |
Equator | the imaginary line around Earth that is equidistant from the North and South Poles. |
Prime Meridian | the imaginary line(0)° that runs east and west |
northern hemisphere | the half of the globe north of the Equator. |
southern hemisphere | the half of the globe south of the Equator. |
eastern hemisphere | the half of the globe east of the Equator. |
western hemisphere | the half of the globe west of the Equator. |
continents | 7 large landmasses on the globe. |
