Reference Map | Mapping that includes all possible valid relationships |
Thematic Map | A map or chart to show a theme connected to a geographic area. |
GPS | Global Positioning System that is a new way to find your way around streets, roads, and many other places without getting lost. |
GIS | Geographic Information System that helps find geographic locations by using information. |
Distance Scale | A length or distance to find a specific magnitude. |
Directional Indicator | A directional compass. |
Inset Map | The borders around a map. |
Legend | The key that states climates, etc on a map. |
Latitude (Parallels) | A geographic coordinate that specifies the north-south position of a point on the Earth's surface. |
Longitude (Meridians) | A geographic coordinate that specifies the east-west position of a point on the Earth's surface. |
Equator | The middle of the earth with a separating line in between the top and bottom. (North and South) |
Prime Meridian | A planet's meridian adopted as the zero of longitude. |
Northern Hemisphere | The hemisphere north to the equator. |
Southern Hemisphere | The hemisphere south to the equator. |
Eastern Hemisphere | The hemisphere east to the equator. |
Western Hemisphere | The hemisphere west to the equator. |
Continents | The World's main land expanses. (Asia, North America, South America, Europe, Australia and Antarctica. |
