Term | Definition |
Inner Core | 1,250km thick. Iron and nickel. Solid and metallic. |
Outer Core | 2,200km thick. Iron and Nickel. Liquid and metallic. |
Lower Mantle | Silica rocks. Solid and rocky |
Upper Mantle | Lowest part of lithosphere. Solid |
Asthenosphere | The part of the upper mantle that flows like trickle. |
Mohorovicic Discontinuity (Moho) | A thin band near the top of the upper mantle. It marks change from crust to mantle |
Crust | 5-100km think. Contains minerals such as quartz and feldspar found in igneous rock, such as granite, sedimentary and metamophic rocks |
