| Order of operations | A set of rules mathematics use to determine the order in which operations are performed. |
| Evaluate | To find the value of an expression |
| Identify property of multiplication | The product of a number and is that number |
| Identify property of addition | Adding zero to a number ones not change the number |
| Substitution | To replace variable with a number |
| Distributive property | Multipying a sum (or difference) by a number gives the same result as multiplying each number in the sum ( or difference) by the number and adding ( or subtracting) the products. |
| Associative property of multiplication | the way numbers are grouped does not affect the product |
| Variable | A quantity that can or vary, often represented with a letter |
| Input/ output table | A table of related values |
| Commutative property of multiplication | The order in which numbers are multiplied does not change the product of the numbers |
| Commutative property of addition | The order in which numbers are added does not change the sum of the number |
| Coefficient | The number that is multiplied by a variable in an algebraic expression Example: for 6x +5 , the coefficient is 6 |
| Associative property of addition | The way numbers are grouped does not affect the sum |
| Algebraic expression | A mathematicsl phrase that has at least one variable and one operation |
