What is the domain? | The x-values, or input |
What is the range? | The y-values, or output |
What is a discrete graph? | A graph that does not have points connected; all sequences are discrete |
What is a continuous graph? | A graph that does have points connected |
What is a function? | A relation in which the domain (x-values) do not repeat! |
What is a relation? | Any set of ordered pairs |
What is the "vertical line test?" | A way to determine if a graph is a function; you look vertically across the graph and if you don't cross more than two point the graph is a function |
How do you know if an equation represents a function? | Pick an x-value, plug it in and solve for y. If you only get one answer, it is a function! |
How do you know if a graph is linear? | If it forms a straight line |
