Term | Definition |
Variable | A letter that is used to represent a number. |
Equation | A math sentence formed by placing = between two expressions. |
Expression | A sum, difference, product, or quotient of one or more terms. |
Inequality | A math sentence formed by placing <, >, etc... between two expressions. |
Distributive Property | An example of this is a(b + c) = ab + ac |
Coefficient | The number part of a term with a variable. |
Like Terms | Terms that have the same variables and the same exponents. |
Inverse Operations | Operations that undo each other. |
Literal Equation | An equation in which letters are used to replace the coefficients of another equation. |
Solution of an Equation | A number that produces a true statement when substituted for the variable in an equation. |
Solution of an Inequality | A number that produces a true statement when substituted for the variable in an inequality. |
Explain | Tell about it in your own words. |
Evaluate | To judge |
Contrast | List all the ways two or more things are different. |
Summarize | To give the short version. |
Predict | To tell what you think might happen |
