Question | Answer |
What is Dimensional Analysis? | DA is a method for converting units (unit conversion). |
Name a critical part of describing measurement? | Units. |
Why use dimensional analysis? | Before working with units mathematically, you frequently must convert from one unit to another. |
How does using dimensional analysis help? | It helps you make sure you get your multiplications and divisions straight. |
What are the first 3 steps of the DA method? | 1.Write the term to be converted (both number and unit) as a fraction; 2.Make the fraction of the conversion formula (numerator to denominator and vise versa); 3. Use as many conversion formulas as needed until you get the desired results. |
What are the last 5 steps of the DA method? | 1.Cancel units (make sure you end up with the desired units); 2.Multiply everything on top; 3.Multiply everything on bottom; 4.Divide the top by the bottom; 5. Round to the correct number of significant digits. |
