Line | A set of points that form a straight path that extends infinitely in opposite directions. |
Line segment | A part of a line marked by two endpoints, and it includes the endpoints and all the points on the line between them. |
Ray | A part of a line that begins at an endpoint and extends infinitely in one direction. |
Angle | Formed by two rays sharing a common endpoint. |
Parallel lines | Lines that are equidistant (the same distance) from each other and in the same plane. |
Perpendicular lines | Lines that intersect to form a right angle. |
Oblique lines | Lines in the same plane that interesect to form nonright (acute or obtuse) angles. |
Complementary angles | Two angles are complementary if the sum of their measures is 90 degrees. |
Supplementary Angles | Two angles are supplementary if the sum of their measures is 180 degrees. |
Congruent | Figures that are the same size and shape. |
Polygon | A figure with 3 or more sides that has a closed shape, no tails and only one inside area. |
Quadrilaterals | A shape with four sides. |
Acute angle | An angle that is less than 90 degrees. |
Obtuse angle | An angle that is greater than 90 degrees and less than 180 degrees. |
Right angle | An angle that is 90 degrees. |
Straight angle | An angle that is 180 degrees. |
Line of symmetry | The fold line of a shape where both halves of the shape match exaclty. |
Rotational symmetry | When a figure can be turned less than 360 degrees around a point and be in the same orientation as it started. |
