multiplication | the putting together of same size groups |
multiple | the product of a given factor and any whole number |
factors | the numbers multiplied together to find a product |
product | the answer to a multiplication problem |
array | a way of displaying objects in rows and columns |
common factor | a factor that is the same for two or more numbers |
prime number | a whole number greater than 1 with exactly two factors, 1 and itself |
composite number | a number greater than 1 with more than two factors |
Commutative Property of Multiplication | Factors can be multiplied in any order and the product remains the same. |
Zero Property of Multiplication | The product of any number and zero is zero. |
Identity Property of Multiplication | The product of any number and one is that number. |
Distributive Property | Breaking apart problems into two simpler problems Example: (6 X 27)=(6 X 20)+(6 X 7) |
